I’ve always had a fascination with candles. When dining at restaurants as a kid, I would pour wax from table candles into the ice water to cool it. And then mold it. I also find solace in fixing candles when the wax drowns the wick. I will often replace the wick or melt the wax and make a new candle. On Sunday, I left this candle burning. It was sitting in a sconce-like stand and the bottom completely melted through. Luckily, this sculptural remnant is the only result of that negligence. It’s quite gorgeous.
